Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible material that helps your body build its own collagen. Because results come from collagen growth, they develop gradually over several months. Most plans involve a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart. Sculptra is FDA-approved to correct shallow to deep nasolabial folds and other facial wrinkles in people with healthy immune systems.
Sculptra is mixed with sterile water (and often lidocaine) before your appointment. Your provider places it in deeper layers across treatment areas with a needle or cannula. Some swelling may make you look fuller at first; that resolves within days, and true results build over the following months.
